Is it really a secret that teams are trying to find better ways to train their teams. Many coaches are going pretty far when it comes to technology to try and improve their teams play. Take for instance the Buffaloes coach Hawkins. He is adding a camera to the helmet of the quarterback so that they can see exactly what the quarterback sees when he practices. Sounds like a great tool initially. My question is, do you think it will last?

I think this one has the potential to last. It is an intriguing concept to look at what the QB was looking at to help coach him and correct issues. I mean you can now tell for sure whether or not he was reading his progressions properly, you can verify what defense he was seeing when he called an audible, etc. You can do most of this from the third person camera looks they have today, but this will allow them to see exactly what the QB saw from his perspective and explain why that was wrong or right.

That is a possible detraction I am sure, I think to some extent why would this have been tried before? Helmet cams have been around for awhile in the XFL, NFL Europe, Arena Leagues, etc. You would think someone would have put thought into doing this before, that would lead me to believe this may be a waste of time and money.

Maybe so. I remember the umpire cams they used to have, I think in the NFL. The game was so fast and jerky that it was even hard to tell what the umpire was doing exactly. I guess if it works, great. Other teams will probably pick it up from there or try their own version of it.
