Default Millard South QB Marsh accepts grayshirt offer

Millard South QB Marsh accepts grayshirt offer

Bronson Marsh is ready to see what he can do as a Husker.

After pondering for a day a grayshirt offer from NU, the Millard South quarterback on Tuesday accepted the opportunity.

“It’s always been a dream, but it’s more than that,” Marsh told the Journal Star. “It’s been a dream since I was little, but then when it comes to reality, I had to make sure it was where I wanted to go.”

Marsh said NU coaches told him he could start at whatever position he wanted, but would then need to prove himself.

The recruit said Bo Pelini and Marvin Sanders told him they thought he’d fit well at safety.

Listed at 6-feet and 200 pounds, Marsh led Millard South to a Class A state title this fall as a quarterback. Is that the position he wants to try first?

“I’d like to see where I fit and if I can prove myself, but if not, I’m not going to complain. I just want to play,” Marsh said.

Marsh had committed to Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday but then received a grayshirt offer from NU’s Barney Cotton on Monday morning.

The grayshirt means Marsh will sit out the fall and have his scholarship go into effect next January.

“I just thought I’d take a day to think it over and make sure it was what I really wanted,” Marsh said.

Huskerfalcon: I came here to post the exact same message. I admit that you are more detailed in your' message than I would have been. !/26/10 at 10:30 pm.. I heard the same on channel 6 TV. I'm happy he made that choice. At QB this kid is very deliberate and doesn't appear th have happy feet. IMO: Is decisive in his throws and acurate, at least that's the way he looked in the NU state highschool championship game. An under the radar recruit! It must have disappointed UNO when he made his decision!

Bronson will start at QB by HIS choice, not the Coaches's choice. They are letting him start at whatever position he wants to, but they project him as a Safety. Hopefully if he isn't going to make it at QB, he makes a decision to switch sooner than later.

Also, this one is getting a ton of criticism across message boards. Bronson doesn't really have any other D1 offer and all of the recruiting fans are up in arms. Personally if Bo and Co like him enough then great, get him on board. I really get tired of the trash that is going on.

Would they have that same argument for walk-ons? Who gives a crap if we are the only D1 school offering him a spot (grayshirt). If he shows up, plays hard and gets on board with the vision to win a National Title, then I'm good with him.

Good observation, drawing th correlation between Grey shirt and walk on there huskernation. Good point and I'm glad to see you have your' thinking cap on. No need for other boards to give this kid crap and at the same time brag about our walkon history. We'll see how it all works out. I feel good about it after watching him play. He has time to look at QB after all, we aren't exactly hurting at this time at safty, That could come later!

Have a good one.
