Ganz is coming on as an Intern, which means he can only have direct contact with the players during work out sessions and not during practices. He decided not to do the GA thing, I guess he didn't want to go school which is a requirement to being a GA. If he was a GA he could participate directly in practices I believe. One thing I have wondered is since he is an Intern is can he participate in the Summer Workouts? That is where the QB's and WR's run a whole lot of 7 on 7 and forge a chemistry. Coaches are not allowed to interact in Summer Workouts at all, but since he is just an Intern can he particpate? It is called a work out after all. If this is the case, then it is a stroke of genius by Wats and Bo, Ganz can effectively coach these guys during the Summer. Not sure though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we kinda switch offenses since the days of Joey? Wouldn't it be better with Tommie or Zak Taylor?

well, we did change the offense from a strict WCO to more of a spread with west coast principles, and a running game with it. Zac Taylor was an above average QB IMO. i guess you could never count out Tommie becuase he never ran that kind of offense so you will never know

Don't get me wrong I liked Joe Ganz, but he had that brett favre about him in the way that he would have a couple picks every game for forcing balls. Bad trait to pass on IMO

You are right that the offense changed, but it changed in 2008 with Joe Ganz at the Helm. In the 2nd Half of the Missouri game at home, Watson changed up to the Spread WCO that we saw be so effective for the rest of the year and early this past season. That is what Watson has said he wants to get back to, and in that offense a dual-threat QB is more ideal. Joe Ganz was just fast enough to make the Zone Read effective, but a Jamal Turner would be electric. IMO the biggest difference in QB's that Bo and Wats will go after from what TO wanted is that Bo will get Dual Threats that are hopefully great passers who can run where as TO could make do with runners who could pass if that makes sense. This offense still has a large % of pass in it.

I guess when you put it in that terms it makes alot more sense, but how does the wildcat fit into a spread???? and Joe did how many option plays? The only one I saw him do was at the Red White game and we the fans went nuts!! fun times... For sake of fun, who is the better dual threat? carnes or green. No counting 2011 folks

NU ran a lot of that Zone Read, which is like an option play. QB puts the ball in the gut of the RB while he reads the DE. If the DE crashes in to make a play on the RB, then the QB pulls the ball out and runs it himself to the outside where the DE just vacated. That is a big part of the NU Spread WCO offense.
